PokeSurvivor Saves & Account Recovery

Understand PokeSurvivor guest, cloud and offline saves, Gmail recovery, two-device merges and copy-site account limits.

Save behavior is from the official guide, news, README and db.js checked 22 October 2026. Cloud save details can change; the official login screen is the authority.

A guest session is not saved. An official name-and-password or Google account saves to the cloud; the offline ZIP saves in the browser’s local storage. If you linked Gmail, sign in with Google to recover the same account. If you did not link it, the password cannot be recovered. A copy site has a separate database and cannot recover an official account.

Guest, account and offline

ModeWhere progress livesSurvives a reload?Survives a device change?
GuestRun memory onlyNoNo
Official online accountCloud Firestore plus a local copyYesYes, on another official host
Offline ZIP accountBrowser localStorageYes, in the same browserNo automatic transfer

Guests can play immediately, but the official guide says nothing is saved. A run that matters should start with an account. The first-run guide covers the guest/account choice at the start.

The offline package is solo only. It saves in the browser’s local storage and does not include co-op, cloud saves or leaderboards. Clearing site data removes it. The download guide explains the ZIP setup.

Cloud sync and host restriction

The cloud layer is enabled only on approved hosts: pokesurvivor.com, www.pokesurvivor.com, jpter78.github.io, localhost and 127.0.0.1. A copy of the game on another domain falls back to local mode. That is a deliberate limit, not a bug: an unofficial copy should not write into the author’s cloud project.

If the official site is opened from a non-approved host, the game can still run but will not use the official cloud account. Check the address before entering a password. The GitHub guide explains the difference between the source repository and a deployed copy.

Two-device merges

When the same account is used on two devices, the saves merge rather than overwrite. Collections (owned and shiny) are unioned; upgrades and statistics take the maximum; currency uses a per-device ledger so a stale device does not erase coins or tickets. The merge is designed to be idempotent, so merging twice gives the same result.

The game may keep a local copy for offline play and sync when the connection returns. A countdown or “scheduled” state is not proof that the cloud write finished. Give it time and reopen the cloud screen if you are about to switch devices.

Gmail and password recovery

If you linked Gmail to a name-and-password account, sign in with Google to recover the same account. The 14 October update added this path. If you never linked Gmail, the password cannot be recovered from the game; there is no public “reset any account” tool.

Do not send your password to a third-party site or a Discord helper. The official login is on pokesurvivor.com. A site that asks for your official credentials is a phishing or copy site.

What to back up before clearing data

  1. Confirm the account type. Guest, official cloud or offline local.
  2. Sign in on the official host. Check the profile and cloud state, not just the home page.
  3. Wait for the save to finish. A scheduled write is not a completed write.
  4. Note the account name and linked Google address. Do not store the password in a public note.
  5. If using the offline ZIP, export the browser profile or copy the site data before clearing it. The exact storage key is implementation detail; a browser profile backup is the safe route.
  6. Test on a second device before deleting the first device’s data.

If the account is already inaccessible, do not create a new account with the same nickname and assume it merges. A new account is a new save. Contact the author through the official GitHub issues or support page with the account context; do not post a password.

Copy sites and lost progress

A copy site has its own database. An official account cannot log in there, and progress made there is not transferable to pokesurvivor.com. This is also why a friend on a copy site cannot find an official friend. The multiplayer guide covers the friends-list symptom.

The only official website is pokesurvivor.com. The author’s itch.io page and GitHub repository are official creator pages; Miniplay, Game Jolt and APKPure are not the account authority. The download guide lists the official entries.

Quick answers

Is my guest progress saved?

No. A guest session is not saved. Use a name-and-password or Google account on the official site for cloud progress.

Can I recover a forgotten password?

If you linked Gmail, sign in with Google to recover the same account. If you did not link it, the password cannot be recovered from the game.

What happens on two devices?

The saves merge: collections union, upgrades and stats take the maximum, and currency uses a per-device ledger.

Why did my account disappear on another site?

The copy site has a separate database. Official credentials and progress do not transfer there.

Sources and scope

These sources were checked on 22 October 2026. This is source-based guidance, not a claim that the site played every route. The live game can change after an update.
